This gorgeous little freeform is a mixture of purple amethyst, pink amethyst, and pink flower agate.  This little freeform unfortunately took a little tumble and one corner broke off.  It still stands on it's own though, still standing strong through the battles.  It is 0.082kg (reweighed after the break), just over 2 inches long, just under 2 inches tall, and just under 0.75inches wide.

Amethyst is a violet quartz mineral, it is silicate based.  Amethyst has a mohs hardness of 7.  It exhibits pleochroism (different colors when observed from different angles or polarized light) and piezoelectricity (creates an electric potential in response to temperature changes).  Amethyst is considered a semiprecious stone.   It gets its purple color from natural and unnatural irradiation of trivalent iron.  When partially heat treated amethyst becomes ametrine and when fully heat treated can change colors to yellow (often mistaken for citrine).  Amethyst will fade with continual exposure to sunlight.  Amethyst can be lab grown.

The name amethyst comes from the Greek word "amethystos" which translates to not intoxicate as the ancient Greeks believed that wearing amethyst would protect them from drunkenness.  Amethyst is a sacred stone amongst Tibetans and is often used in their prayer beads.  It is associated with the British royalty and is one of the cardinal gems of the old world.

Metaphysically amethyst can be used to increase clarity and spiritual awareness as well as calm the mind and increase psychic abilities.

Flower agate is a variety of plume agate discovered in Madagascar in 2011. It is a mix of agate and opaque chalcedony resembling blooming flowers.  The agate is often pink or gray but can be red, green, blue, and black.  Flower agate has a mohs scale hardness of 6.5-7.

Agate colors are created by various mineral inclusions.  Green flower agate is due to chlorite inclusions.  Red flower agate is due to iron or manganese.  Blue flower agate is due to iron or copper.  Black flower agate is due to iron and basalt.

Flower agate has also been called Sakura Agate and Cherry Blossom Agate.

Flower agate is considered a “master healer” and is used to amplify energies of other stones.  Flower agate encourages self growth, emotional balance, and joy.
