This gorgeous little chalcedony tower has some beautiful red inclusions believed to be hematite inclusions. The chalcedony itself is a light blue and is gorgeous. This tower weighs 0.123kg, stands 3.5inches tall, and is just over an inch wide.
Chalcedony is a large group of crystals. Chalcedony is a cryptocrystalline form of silica composed of fine intergrowths of quartz and moganite. It has a mohs hardness of 6-7 depending on variety. It comes in a wide variety of colors. Some common forms of chalcedony are agate, carnelian, and onyx.
The name chalcedony comes from the latin word "chalcedonius". A gem called khalkedon is referenced in the bible and is believed to be chalcedony. Chalcedony can be found as far back as prehistoric times in cave paintings and in tools. It was also used in the Bronze age in metal seals.
Metaphysically chalcedony varies depending on subtype but overall is considered to be a healing stone that promotes emotional balance, increased physical energy, and increased positive thinking.
